WHAT IS HE-consult-UK?
HE-consult-UK is a web based discussion forum which was started in March 2005 to provide a venue for home educators to discuss consultation responses being written by collation of onlist comments, or by the policy response teams of HE organisations. The discussion list is hosted on a Yahoo Groups list.

The home education community consists of many diverse social groups, and families often have different reasons for home educating and use a range of educational approaches.  Because of this wide range of views on many aspects of home education, parenting and lifestyle, strong differences of opinion are sometimes expressed, and different groups sometimes cannot easily work together. HE-consult-UK is a conscious effort to maintain a forum which is neutral, not owned by any particular group or organisation, so that consensus viewpoints can be explored and developed. The list’s purpose and operation are described more fully in the list rules.
